GREETINGS FROM… DUVAL
You know the chant, right?
Artist Mark Ferreira / Cent Two Design creates a welcoming greeting in the Alley of The Elbow. This mural is massive, covering at least 15’x20′. It must be the largest in the Alley.
What makes it even more overpowering is how close you are to the wall for a proper view. The Alley is fairly narrow – hey, it’s an alleyway – so there’s not a lot of space to get full view. This forces you to be in the painting, and you’re forced to see the details in lieu of the bigger picture.
Go see this one followed by bouncing all over The Elbow, ending up in front of this beauty around the corner.

The 1980’s postcard feeling of this mural makes a gives the space a neo-classic appearance. Inlaid in each of the wide, bold letters that spell out DUVAL are scenes of Florida and Jacksonville at its finest.
From left to right: beach scenes and sunsets; the Independent Life building next to the Main Street Bridge; a “Welcome to Florida” road sign; the Jacksonville Jaguars logo; and finally a map of Jacksonville’s land and major roads following the St. John’s River.
It’s Duval. It’s Jacksonville. It’s Florida. It’s us.
