The completion of Nico’s post card mural on the side of The Block Skate Supply in Brooklyn, just north of Five Points. Photographed June 9, 2016.
Welcome to Jax
Nico welcomes the locals and visitors to Jax and to The Block Skate Supply in proper fashion.
It’s colorful and symbolic on a bright white wall. Nico brings the symbol of Florida – the orange – to the sunset colors of Jacksonville, FL.
The Block Skate Supply is perhaps the most chill place, too. And it’s become a place for some artists to flock. Besides hosting a vert ramp in the back, they’re inviting artists to come cover their walls and spaces to give the block some color. Being in a more industrial, stark area just north of Five Points, they’re fighting blight with art.
Nico is bringing more and more of her work and color all over Jax. In addition to her work here, more work is a half block away on Roselle St. You can’t miss it – it’s the giant wall of color facing Park Street. Her work is also seen on the east wall of Angie’s Subs in Jax Beach, in addition to bringing the Jax Kids Mural Fest to town.
